Nike Dunk Low Setsubun (2022)
Description
Setsubun, also known as the "Bean Throwing Festival," is celebrated the day before spring in Japan. During the festival, participants throw handfuls of dried soybeans to ward off demons and evil spirits and promote good luck.
The silhouette features a light brown base with khaki and dark brown overlays. Purple appears on the Nike checkerboard, tongues, and lining. Other details include an embroidered "demon" on the back of the heel, followed by a white and brown outsole. The featured pair is a late Edo period (1840s) artwork by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The image depicts Kintar, who grows up to become a great demon-slaying warrior.
